Agnes O'Donnell Obituary

Agnes O’Donnell of Hazleton and a resident of Fritzingertown Senior Living
community, Drums, for the past four years, passed away late Saturday night at
Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton Campus, with her loving husband at her side.
Born in Scranton and raised in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late
Dominic and Helen (Allenovitch) Keiser. Agnes was a 1950 graduate of Hazleton
High School. Prior to retirement in 1989, she was employed for 39 years at Bell
Telephone as an operator and supervisor. As an operator in 1962, Agnes received
an accommodation from Bell for being instrumental in helping the life of a woman
who was seriously ill, giving comfort and assistance until help arrived. She was
recognized as playing a major part in saving her life.
Agnes was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, West Hazleton
and currently a member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Church of Transfiguration,
West Hazleton. She also was a member of the local Chapter of the Bell Telephone
Pioneers and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Humenick.
Agnes is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Joseph
O’Donnell. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary on October 2nd . Also surviving
is Regina Young of Seattle, Washington and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 AM at Holy Name
of Jesus Parish, Church of Transfiguration, West Hazleton. A viewing will be held
for family and friends from 9 AM to 10 AM at the Church prior to the Mass.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Drums.
Donations in memory of Agnes may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1058 Peace St.
Hazle Township, PA. 18202.
