Carl Sarullo Obituary

Carl Sarullo, 70, beloved husband of Dr. Teresa Pelly, passed away at Lehigh Valley
Hospital-Hazleton after a courageous seven-month battle with cancer.

Born and raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Carl was the son of the late Carmelo
and Theresa Sarullo. Following his graduation from St. Peter's High School, Carl
relocated to the Poconos with his family, where they opened a restaurant, Villa Virella.

Carl worked at the restaurant for 20 years, where he made excellent homemade pasta,
served as a cook and waiter, and taught several cooking schools. He had a true gift for
preparing delicious food with an elegant presentation.

For the last 31 years, Carl was an integral part of Pelly Dental, where he worked with
his wife, brother-in-law, and a wonderful staff that he considered family. Carl loved
helping and talking to patients, and he sincerely cared for everyone he treated.

Carl loved to travel, but he was happiest at home cooking great dinners, working in his
garden, and doing home improvements. His family and friends will always remember
the many special occasions he hosted, especially New Year's Eve parties.

Carl was a kind, generous person who lived every day with gratitude. He always put
others before himself and was willing to help anyone he could.

Carl is survived by his devoted wife, Dr. Teresa Pelly; his loving brother-in-law and very
best friend, Dr. Joseph Pelly; his caring and supportive sisters-in-law, Diane Elton and
Sandra Vigderman; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, staff and Interventional Radiology
Department at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Topper Cancer Institute-Hazleton for their
exceptional care and kindness during Carl's illness.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at
Holy Rosary Church, 240 South Poplar Street, Hazleton. The family will receive friends
and visitors from 9:30AM-11AM prior to the Mass.  Entombment will be held privately at
Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Rosary Church; Holy Protection
Monastery, 1 St. Joseph's Way, White Haven, PA 18661; or St. Jude's Children's
Research Hospital.
