Daniel Quinn Obituary

Daniel Quinn, 85 of Hazleton passed away unexpectedly early Saturday
morning at The Manor at St. Luke Village, Hazleton.

Born in Harwood, he was the son of the late Peter J. and Mercedes (Elliott)
Quinn. His family moved to Hazleton and he was a a proud lifelong
resident of the Southside of town where he grew up with family and friends
and enjoyed all of the fun of a close knit neighborhood.

Daniel graduated from Hazleton High School after just turning 17 years old.
With permission from his parents, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1955.
He spent four years in Alaska, safeguarding the territory until it became a
state in 1959.

After being honorably discharged in 1959, he began his lifelong career in
the plumbing business. He completed courses at the Hazleton Vocational
Center and became a journeyman plumber and then a master plumber.
For 40 years he worked for Joseph J. Brislin Plumbing and Heating in
commercial and residential properties in the Hazleton area.
His daily routine began with breakfast at Jimmy’s Quick Lunch and he
continued that throughout his life.

After retiring Daniel spent his afternoons at St. Gabriel Cemetery with a
group of friends, where they would solve the worlds problems. He was
such a permanent fixture at the cemetery that people would stop to ask him
if he knew where a grave was located and he always could show them an
exact location!

Daniel had strong faith and was a lifelong member of Annunciation Parish,
Church of St. Gabriel. He attended daily mass and always sat in the same
pew, right hand side in the side pews, half way down the aisle.
He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and had a wonderful sense of
humor.

Most important to Daniel was family. He was affectionately known to his
nephews and nieces as “Uncle Danny”.

He attended all family gatherings and never forgot a birthday or holiday
with a card. He always enjoyed loving them and making them laugh and
they all loved him back.

After his Dad died in 1970, he was the primary caregiver to his Mom. He
did this with love and devotion. He lived in the family homestead until he
needed to reside at St. Luke Manor for health reasons.
At St. Lukes he was visited by all those who loved him. St. Lukes became
his second home and the staff his second family, where he was known to
them as “Uncle Danny”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary
Cienki and a brother Bernard Quinn.

He is survived by his loving family, a brother Peter Quinn, White Haven and
sister Susan Noggle and husband Glen, Hazleton, and numerous nieces
and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family thanks St. Luke Manor for their wonderful care and kindness for
“Uncle Danny”.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 AM at the
Annunciation Parish, Church of St. Gabriel, Hazleton. Interment will follow
in the parish cemetery with military honors.

Friends and relatives may call at the church from 9 am to 10 am prior to the
Mass.
