Elizabeth A. Thompson, age 89, formerly of Hazleton, passed away Friday December 5 at
Country Meadows Nursing Center of Bethlehem.
Born in West Hazleton on October 1,1936, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth
(Dzurek) Rusinko. She was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish, Hazleton, and a
longtime member of the Hazleton Art League where she developed a love and skill working
with stain glass. Elizabeth was also a past Vice President of the Art League.
Before retiring she was employed by the former Continental White Cap, Hazleton as a quality
control technician. Elizabeth loved spending time engaging with and being surrounded by her
family and friends.
Preceding her in death her husband; Bill (2000), brother; Peter and his wife Dorothy, brother;
Leo and his wife Emma, and brother; Larry. Surviving are her daughter; Elizabeth and her
husband Michael Bitel, son; Bill and his wife Kristin, sister; Gloriann and her husband Nicholas
Grazio, and many loving nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish (Church of St, Joseph) 604 North Laurel
St. Hazleton on Saturday December 13 from 9 to 10 am. A Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated at 10 am. A private burial will be at the convenience of the family. Joseph B.
