Francis "Frank" Roman Obituary

Francis (Frank) Roman 80, of Hazleton passed away peacefully early Thursday morning at his residence
with his longtime friend and caregiver Cindy Gallagher by his side.
Born and raised in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Carmen and Alverna (Stewart) Roman.
In 1961 Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country while being stationed in Panama.
After being honorably discharged in 1967 Frank began working at Pagnotti Enterprises. He was a skilled
heavy equipment operator for 23 years for Pagnotti and a surveyor and laborer at Number One
Contracting. He was respected and appreciated by his supervisors and co-workers.
Following his employment with Pagnotti Enterprises, he worked at Corch Construction Company, Job
Johnny Corporation and finally ending his career in 2016 from Biros Utilities as a service technician.
Frank was a member of Annunciation Parish, Church of St. Gabriel. For many years he and his wife Mary
Jean made potato pancakes for the annual parish bazaar. They both looked forward to meeting the parish
community at this event. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 73 of Hazleton.
He was a kind and selfless person, always caring for friends and family. He was well known and will be
missed in the community.
He strongly supported the Wounded Warriors Project, the Paralyzed Veterans of America, and the
Hazleton Animal Shelter.
As an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan, he enjoyed cheering for his team and sharing the excitement with his
son. He always prepared delicious dishes and many were prepared in his “Steeler” crockpot.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Mary Jean Darrough in
1997, a brother, Carmen Roman. Sister Gloria Sanzi, also nephews Vincent and Mark Roman and Jamie

Gallagher. Also, numerous nieces and nephews and too many friends to mention.
The family thanks Dr. Sidari, Residential Hospice and above all Cindy who allowed Frank to be cared for in
his own home.
