Jack Meluskey, 83, of Drums, beloved husband, father, and Pap, passed away peacefully at home on
Friday.
Jack was born in Lancaster on May 2,1941. He grew up in both the Lancaster and Shenandoah areas. He
met Mary Conahan, the love of his life, in Shenandoah. They were married for 46 years until her death in
2014.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Hannah Meluskey. He is survived by his son,
Jack, daughter-in-law Lisa, his cherished grandsons Jack (Sir) and Kevin, a brother, Bill Meluskey and wife
Carol, brother-in-law, James Conahan and wife Kathy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pap, as he was affectionately known to everyone, was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Red
Sox, Penn State, any Philly team, and of course the Hazleton Cougar football team. He was an ace
pitcher for the Challenger baseball team. He golfed with his friends, loved the beach, and enjoyed a
good Manhattan. He was also popular amongst the Dickinson College Sigma Chi crowd and was known
for his legendary tailgates.
Jack was employed at PPL for 34 years. He was well-respected by all and enjoyed his career. But his
proudest accomplishments were as a family man. He loved his grandsons and was absolutely devoted to
his family. Jack lived by his own code of honor with fierce conviction. He loved his people
unconditionally and will be missed beyond measure.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 4 th at 11AM at Good Shepherd
Church, Drums. Interment will be private in Saint Gabriel’s cemetery, Hazleton.
Friends and relatives may call from 9:30AM to 11:00AM prior to the mass.
