Jane O’Donnell Heisey died suddenly but peacefully early Thursday morning at Providence Place where she resided. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Agnes (Brogan) O’Donnell. Jane graduated from Hazleton High School in 1967. She later moved to Massachusetts where, as a single mother, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Education and a Master of Science Degree in Special Education from Salem State University.
Always the champion of the underdog, Jane chose jobs to help others in their needs. Her first job was at White Haven Center working with young, disabled children. Jane then went on to work at Elizabethtown Crippled Children’s hospital. After moving to Massachusetts, she was employed as a cognitive therapist at Lennox Hill Rehabilitation Facility, then at Hammersmith House as Program Director of their Alzheimer Unit. Her final career was as a Life Skills Teacher at Swampscott High School Massachusetts working with students from age 15 to 22 years.
Having devout faith, Jane was a member of Annunciation Parish, Church of St. Gabriel.
Jane was preceded in death by her sisters Kathy Dufallo and Mary Beth Brzozowski.
She is survived by her loving daughter Elizabeth Pacewicz, husband Timothy and three grandsons, Owen, Luke, and Isaac. She is also survived by her sister, Sally O’Donnell, brother-in-law Paul Dufallo, brother-in-law Paul Brzozowski and cousin Mark Shaughnessy. Also surviving Jane’s niece, Maureen Tarpinian, nephews Daniel Brzozowski and Colin Dufallo.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10:00 am at Annunciation Parish Church of St. Gabriel, Hazleton. Internment will be private in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Freeland.
A viewing will be held Monday morning from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the church, prior to the mass.
