Jean Marsyada Obituary

In tradition with her lifelong passion for keeping her family on their toes,
And catching them off guard in her own unique ways, Jean Marsyada
unexpectedly danced her way into heaven on Sunday afternoon.
A lifelong resident of Hazleton, Jean was the daughter of the late Robert L. and
Bessie (Hauze) Walk who enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling,
dancing the Twist on stage with Chubby Checkers, and honing her catalog of corny
jokes she freely shared with all listeners: “Waiter! This coffee tastes like mud!”
For many years she was employed in the local garment industries and a sewing
machine operator.
One of Jean’s passions was cooking for her family, who enjoyed a constant supply
of meatballs, filling, jello squares and meatloaf, with all family members vying for
“most favored status” on cooking days!
Jean was the most positive, uplifting presence to all she met. With her diverse
interests, sunny disposition and outgoing personality, she wove a tapestry of light
and love which she draped over every life she touched.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James
Marsyada in 2011 and a brother Robert Walck.
Jean leaves behind her cherished children, sons Michael Gallucci and wife Laurie
and Joseph Gallucci, daughters Patricia Gallucci, Sandy Brandmier and husband
David, her caring sisters Dorothy Stash and Louise Becker. Also surviving are
seven treasured grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held Saturday
July 15 th at 1:30 PM at Drums Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites a donation to the Hazleton Animal Shelter in
Jean’s name.
