It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John M. DeLash, 72, on Thursday April 3, at the home of his daughter in Fredericksburg, VA.
Born July 28, 1952 in Hazleton, PA. John was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who lived a full life of love, laughter and adventure.
A Master Moulder at Hazleton Casting Company (formally Barrett and Heaentjens) for many years. John was a hard worker, a trait he passed on proudly to his children. He had a great sense of humor and was able to bring smiles and laughs to all his friends and family. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper who had a talent for archery. One of his proudest accomplishments was successfully hunting a bear in Canada with a single arrow. He also was able to obtain a moose license and hunted moose in Canada with one of his closest friends.
John had a love of history and classic cars which was a significant part of his life. He enjoyed walking the battlefields of Virginia. Visiting historic sites and attending car shows.
Above all else, John was a devoted family man. He has always been involved in every aspect of his children's lives, from coaching their sports with his wife, to supporting their academic and extracurricular activities. His greatest joy, however, was his role as grandfather. He was deeply engaged with his grandchildren telling them stories, jokes, playing games with them, building things for them and creating treasured memories. He was especially proud of his family and considered them his greatest legacy.
He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn (Depretis) DeLash; his Children Lynn (DeLash) Davies and her spouse Morgan Davies of Fredericksburg, VA; Michelle DeLash of Cape Cod, MA; Michael DeLash and Devin Glorioso of East Stroudsburg, PA; his beloved grandchildren Abigail, Ella, John and Charlotte; and his cherished grand-dogs Daisy, Remy and Kuma.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, John" Nick" DeLash and Nan (McGeehan) DeLash.
John will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts and minds of his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
