Karen Caparro, 69, of Hazleton, passed away peacefully at her home early Saturday morning,
following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness.
Born and raised in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ann (Gallagher)
Dona. She was a 1974 graduate of Bishop Hafey High School and went on to become a licensed
practical nurse.
Throughout her career, Karen worked at several medical facilities and, most recently, at The
Corrigan House. She was known as a kind and dedicated nurse who took great pride in caring for
others. Beyond her profession, she will be remembered as a generous woman who deeply loved
her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Prezcop; her
second husband, Mark Katchmarik; and her third husband, Vito Caparro.
Karen is survived by her loving brother, Jack Dona, who devotedly cared for her with
compassion and kindness for many years. She is also survived by her aunt, Patricia Graziano,
along with many cousins.
In keeping with Karen’s wishes, no services will be held.
