Marjorie Alessio of Hazleton passed away at her home Monday evening after a
courageous battle with cancer. At her side was her loving daughter Janet and
best friend Joann Casper.
Born in Astoria, N.Y., She was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Cameron)
Johnson. When she was a child, her family relocated to Hazleton, and she
became a lifetime resident of the area.
Marjorie was a devoted wife and mother, dedicating her life to caring for her
family. She was happiest cooking in her kitchen. She loved jazz music so much
and played it daily. The rhythm of jazz music touched her heart.
For many years she helped her husband at their family business, Tom’s Shoe
Repair.
Having devout faith, Marjorie was a member of Annunciation Parish, Church of St.
Gabriel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life,
Thomas (BoBo) Alessio in 2013, They shared 59 wonderful years of marriage, and
also a brother Stanley Johnson.
Surviving are her cherished daughter Janet and Judy Alessio, both of Hazleton.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrate
Friday at 10 AM at Annunciation Parish Church of St. Gabriel, Hazleton. Interment
will follow in the parish cemetery.
Donations in memory of Marjorie may be made to “Restore This House” at the
Church of St. Gabriel, 122 S. Wyoming St. Hazleton.
