Patricia Melito Obituary

Patricia (Patsy) Higgins Melito, 88, entered into eternal rest on Saturday January 4, 2025 at
Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore PA, with her loving family by her side.
Patricia was the daughter of the late Mary & Daniel Higgins. She was preceded in death by her
Husband, Louis Melito, siblings; Mary Kosiak, Lawrence Higgins, Reverend Daniel Higgins, and
Paulette Rapach.


Patricia was a devoted mother to her four children; Mary Ann Titus and husband Jeff, Fort Worth
TX, Louis Melito, Hazle Township PA, Mary Danielle Snyder & husband Mark, Bear Creek Township PA,
Francis Melito and wife Michelle, Falls Church VA. 7 grandchildren; Sarah, Emily, Mark Jr,
Joshua, Clarissa, Zachary, and Maya. Numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
Patricia was born and raised in Hazleton and a graduate of Hazleton High School. She was
employed at Deisroth’s Department Store, and Tung-Sol, Weatherly, PA.


Having devout faith, in her early years she was a member of Most Precious Blood Parish and their
Sodality. She later joined Annunciation Parish, Church of Saint Gabriel where she enjoyed singing
in the choir.


An avid reader, Patricia was a lifelong subscriber of the Hazleton Standard Speaker Newspaper and
cut out articles she felt worthy of sharing. Hobbies included playing the piano, baking bread,
making Pizzelles, her famous meatballs, city chicken, and many polish and Italian dishes and
cookies. Patricia loved gardening and all plants she touched thrived outdoor and indoor. She was
known for her beautiful African Violets. She learned many culinary skills and traditions from her
mother in law, Mary Senape Melito.


Patricia relished the title of “Big Mom” by her grandchildren, and loved playing games. She always
had a supply of water balloons on hand every time they visited. She appreciated a good movie and
television show and loved giving a play by play. Her favorites were Seinfeld, CSI, the Sopranos,
the Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Yellowstone, Impractical Jokers, along with Classic Movies and
Westerns.


Her greatest joy were her children and grandchildren, and her memory will be cherished.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 9:30 am at
Annunciation Parish Church of Saint Gabriel, Hazleton. Interment will be private in Our Lady of
Grace Cemetery, Hazleton. The family will receive friends from 8:30am to 9:30am prior to mass at
the church.


Donations in memory of Patricia can be made to the Hazleton Public Library.
