Robert O'Hara Obituary

Robert M. “Botcho";Hara of West Hazleton passed away peacefully
Friday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.

Born and raised in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Thomas and
Bridget (Campbell) O’Hara and a lifetime resident of the area. Botcho grew
up in a home filled with love and joy and a close-knit family. He continued
those bonds with his siblings throughout his life.

He was a 1958 graduate of St. Gabriel High School. Prior to retirement, he
was employed at PPL as a linesman for thirty-five years.

Having devout faith, he was a lifelong member of Annunciation Parish,
Church of St. Gabriel. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus
and the Swing Club.

Botcho was a devoted husband, father and friend.

He was married for 49 years to the former Kathy Tracy. They shared a
lifelong love affair filled with happiness, humor and more laughter than
anyone could imagine. Together they raised the joy of their life, their son
Kevin.

Botcho made friends easily and was a true friend in every sense of the
word.

Known for his quick Irish wit with deep pride in his heritage, Botcho was an
avid supporter of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, often traveling to South
Bend and starting each trip with a prayer at the Grotto. He was also an
avid L.A. Dodger fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Kathy in
August of 2023, and a sister Sally O’Hara Dougherty.

Botcho leaves behind his devoted son, Kevin O’Hara, West Hazleton who
lovingly cared for his Dad, a sister Mary Patricia Prendergast, Middletown,
RI and brothers James O’Hara and wife Kathleen, Wahington, DC, and
Rev. Thomas O’Hara, C.S.C., Kings College.

Also surviving is brother-in-law Peter Dougherty, Hazleton, numerous
nieces and nephews and too many friends to mention.

Botcho will be fondly remembered for his humor, and the enduring kindness
he showed to all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of
love and faith will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
Botcho and Kathy are now reunited in heaven, their smiling Irish eyes
watching over all those they loved deeply.
